I Have a Bridge to Sell You... Really!

NEW YORK, NY April 24, 2006 —You know that old line for gullible people, typically delivered after they fall for some outlandish joke, that you've also got a bridge to sell them? Well, state transportation officials would like to do just that: sell you the Tappan Zee Bridge, or the Triborough Bridge, or the New York State Thruway. 14 states have approved these kinds of public private partnerships for bridges, tunnels and roadways and four other states, including New York, are thinking about it. Julie Satow from Crain's New York Business explains.
