President Bush has named Judge John G. Roberts as his choice to be the 17th Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Roberts was first named to succeed retiring Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor but was elevated to Chief Justice nominee following the death of William Rehnquist.
