Stadium Vote Moved to Monday
by Andrea Bernstein
QUEENS, NY June 03, 2005 —The final approval vote on the West Side Stadium has been postponed until Monday.
After a furious night and morning of negotiations, Mayor Bloomberg succeeded in staving off what appeared to be a 'no' vote. Silver was to hold a press conference at Ground Zero to explain his vote, but called it off after the mayor announced the postponement.
Silver did show up with Gov. Pataki at a bill signing of two dangerous drivng bills in Queens, and there, he said they were trying to mitigate the effect of new West Side office space on lower Manhattan.
