Stadium Vote Will Take Place
by Andrea Bernstein
NEW YORK, NY May 26, 2005 —The public authorities control board will meet next week to vote on the West Side Stadium's fate. WNYC's Andrea Bernstein reports.
REPORTER: Both Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno have balked at holding a vote, saying they don't have enough information about the financing and they want to wait until legal issues are settled. But they've each exhausted their delays.
Now the Pataki administration is forcing their hand, saying the vote will take place sooner rather than later. Stadium supporters including Mayor Bloomberg have been anxious for a vote before June 6. That's when the International Olympic Committee releases its technical evaluation of the olympic bids.
Also next week a judge will rule on whether the MTA can transfer the Hudson Railyards to the New York Jets.
