Bill Clinton to Undergo Follow-up Operation
by Fred Mogul
NEW YORK, NY March 08, 2005 —Former President Clinton will be back in surgery later this week, following complications from last year's quadruple bypass.
Dr. Allan Schwartz of Columbia University Medical Center says the removal of scar tissue and fluid is a low-risk, elective procedure.
SCHWARTZ: This is not an emergency…not at all functionally limited.
The operation should last one-to-three hours, and Clinton is expected to remain hospitalized for three to 10 days.
The former president passed a full physical before traveling on a recent tsunami-relief mission to Indonesia. He is expected to make a full recovery.
