Derek Jeter, the shortstop for the New York Yankees, broke his highly unusual 0- for-32 batting slump last night against the Oakland A's. Jeter got a home run during his first at-bat, and smiled with relief as his teammates greeted him at home plate. Perhaps the end of Jeter's hitting drought was due to a letter, with some hitting tips, from a 73-year old from Long Island. Harry Schwartzkopf is the third baseman and general manager of the Lynbrook Dodgers, a senior citizens softball team. He spoke with WNYC's Amy Eddings.
