Harlem's Paterson Replaces Connor as Senate Leader

ALBANY, NEW YORK November 20, 2002 — By a unanimous vote, Democratic lawmakers in Albany have ousted their state Senate leader, Martin Connor, and have replaced him with West Harlem Senator David Paterson. The shake-up marks a rare moment of change in Albany leadership, and makes Paterson the first African-American to lead any party caucus in New York. WNYC's Andrea Bernstein joins us to discuss these changes.
