NEW YORK, NY November 07, 2001 — Republican Michael Bloomberg defeated democrat Mark Green in a close election. With absentee ballots yet to be counted, Mr. Bloomberg appears to have won by approximately 40-thousand votes. In declaring victory, he pledged to reach out to business, labor, and community leaders.
