City Struggles To Find Shelter For Homeless

NEW YORK, NY February 28, 2001 — Many of these women are being sent to a city office in the Bronx -- where they spend days or weeks waiting for space to open up in a shelter, along with hundreds of other homeless families. For 15 years, state courts have been ordering the city to give homeless families better and faster service. But while there were some improvements, WNYC's Beth Fertig found the waiting game continues.
