WNYC AM and FM is altering its schedule on September 11th to carry live coverage of the 9/11 Anniversary Ceremony in the morning. The ceremony will be re-broadcast at 8:00PM on AM 820.

On September 11th Evening Music will present four hours of thoughtful, beautiful music, music of solace and inspiration. Familiar works will include “Silent Woods” by Dvorak, the “Meditation from Thais” by Massenet, “Variations on a Theme by Tchaikovsky” by Anton Arensky, both a sonata and a Cantata by J.S. Bach, and Gustav Mahler’s orchestration of Franz Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden” Quartet, and a short piece for orchestra by New York-born composer Bernard Herrmann called “For the Fallen.”

Laurie Anderson's “Live in New York” was recorded just days after September 11, 2001 at Town Hall. On this episode of New Sounds, we’ll hear selections from this monumental endeavor, including "O Superman."
