Five Gang Members Charged in Bronx Shooting

NEW YORK, NY November 19, 2009 —Police say five members of the Bloods street gang, face attempted murder charges in a Bronx shooting that caught a high school girl in the crossfire. The accused shooter is a 16-year-old boy. The others are 18 through 23. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Junior, says he'll reach out to gang leaders for a talk.

DIAZ: We've had it - this sick culture of criminals, young men who believe that they could settle their differences with gunplay.

REPORTER: Crossfire also killed a South Bronx woman in front of her son in September, and a 92-year-old woman in Williamsbridge last month.

Police say the intended target of the Monday shooting remains hospitalized with a bullet in his lung. And 15-year old Vada Vasquez, who was caught in the crossfire is hospitalized in a medically-induced coma.
