NEW YORK, NY November 03, 2009 —Governor Paterson says he and his aides planned all along to pay for World Series tickets they received from the Yankees for game one. Paterson told reporters his understanding was that governors could get free tickets if he is on official business, which he claims he was.

The Governor says he has sent a letter to the state ethics commission asking what the proper ruling is in this area. Paterson, his son, a friend of his son's, and two aides attended the game.

The Commission on Public Integrity has already opened an investigation following a request by the New York Public Interest Research Group.
