Thompson Works To Keep Voters Focused on Term Limits
by Kathleen Horan
NEW YORK, NY October 23, 2009 —Mayoral candidate Bill Thompson is doing his best to keep the term limits issue in the minds of voters. Referring to opponent Michael Bloomberg's move to change the law so he could run for a third term, Thompson said in a campaign speech last night that the Mayor is not who he says he is.
THOMPSON: Since my opponent claims he's an independent voice - progress, not politics he says, I would argue what he did is the worst kind of politics there is.
REPORTER: Bloomberg has defended his move to overturn term limits without a referendum in light of the current economic crisis. He also says the issue will ultimately be decided by New Yorkers in the voting booth on November 3rd.
