Jay-Z to Hold Benefit Concert 9/11
NEW YORK, NY August 31, 2009 —Rapper Jay-Z will hold a benefit concert in the city on September 11th. Jay-Z made the announcement accompanied by Governor Paterson. The rapper and entrepreneur says he was inspired by witnessing the events on television right after the attacks eight years ago.
JAY-Z: I saw footage of these heroic actions - people running to buildings and savings each other and I just saw the strength of New York and it made me proud.
Tickets are $50 for the concert at Madison Square Garden. Proceeds will benefit the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund.
