NEW YORK, NY August 27, 2009 —The Governor is apologizing for his much-criticized recent comments, implying he's the victim of racism. Karen DeWitt has more from Albany.

REPORTER: The state's first African American governor say he's sorry his comments came as a sweeping condemnation of media coverage as racially biased against him.

PATERSON: I regret the remarks because I think they could have been better thought out. And that's what I apologized for. Today I'm talking about a couple of incidents that happened to me and I think in the way I presented it I did with a broad brush, as if it happens all the time. And by no means does it happen all the time.

REPORTER: The governor now says what he was really angry about was an incorrect report that says he took his underage daughter to a night club. Paterson says his daughter is 21 and that they left the party well before midnight. In Albany, I'm Karen Dewitt.
