Paterson Appeals to Comptroller to Force Senators to Work
by Amy Eddings
NEW YORK, NY July 02, 2009 —A frustrated Governor Paterson is urging the state comptroller to come to his aid, and help him force the Senate to get to work.
PATERSON: I continue to call on Comptroller DiNapoli who is a great public servant and a dear friend. We're past conflict, we're now in crisis. Deadlines have been broken. I don't think the legislators should be paid at this time.
The comptroller's office has not responded to a request for comment. DiNapoli is a former legislator, who served in the Assembly.
Governor Paterson has ordered senators into special sessions through the July Fourth holiday weekend.
