Coney Island Mermaids Not Scared Off by Rain

NEW YORK, NY June 19, 2009 —The rainy forecast for Saturday is not expected to stop Coney Island from holding its 27th annual Mermaid Parade to mark the summer solstice.
REPORTER: Artistic director of Coney Island USA, Dick Zigun, encourages everyone to come out and celebrate the sand, surf and summer fun-- rain or shine.
ZIGUN: There are bumping cars indoors, the side show is indoors, the bars are indoors. There's lots to do even if the weather is iffy. Why go to the movies tomorrow and miss out on all of our fishy fun.
REPORTER: The Surf Avenue parade gets underway at 2, led by King Neptune, Queen Mermaid Daphna and actor Harvey Keitel.
