New NJ Tunnel: Replacing the "Midtown Direct Maybe"

by Richard Hake and Bob Hennelly

NEW YORK, NY June 08, 2009 —For years there have been plans to build a second commuter rail tunnel connecting New Jersey to Manhattan. This morning Governor Corzine will be in Jersey City to preside over the groundbreaking for that second Trans-Hudson rail tunnel. Two thirds of the money to pay for the some $8.7 billion project is coming from the Port Authority and New Jersey Transit. The balance is to come from Washington. Joining to discuss the project is WNYC's Bob Hennelly.
