NEW YORK, NY May 18, 2009 —Caroline Kennedy says it was the 'right decision" to drop her bid to take Hillary Clinton's seat in the US Senate. Speaking on NBC's "Today Show," Kennedy deflected questions about how she thought Governor Paterson handled the appointment.

KENNEDY: As I've said, I've moved on. I'm looking on to what I can do. And hopefully I'll be able to be courageous in my future service. And I'm so glad that you asked about that.

Paterson ended up appointing upstate congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand to the vacant senate seat. Kennedy was on NBC to promote this year's winners of the Profile in Courage award, founded to honor her father, former president John F. Kennedy.
