Chief Justice Nominee
by Jenna Flanagan
NEW YORK, NY January 14, 2009 —Governor Paterson officially presented Jonathan Lippman as his nominee for the post of Chief Justice of New York's Court of Appeals, the state's highest court.
With Lippman at his side, and legislative leaders looking on, Paterson praised Lippman for his time as presiding judge in the appellate division of State Supreme Court.
PATERSON: His passion, his understanding of the courts, the issue about going into tomorrow, the technology he has implemented into the court system, speeding up the resolution of court cases.
REPORTER: If confirmed by the State Senate, Lippman would replace Judge Judith Kaye, who retired at the end of this year.
