Murder Rate in Manhattan Drops 10 Percent

NEW YORK, NY January 13, 2009 —The murder rate in Manhattan dropped 10 percent in 2008, according to the Manhattan District Attorney. That brings the number of murders to the lowest the borough has seen since they started keeping track in the 1930's.
But rapes in Manhattan increased slightly more than one percent. Also, across all five boroughs homicides went up five percent
