WNYC Newsroom

NEW YORK, NY January 11, 2009 —Governor David Paterson has interviewed US Senate hopeful Caroline Kennedy. Paterson spokeswoman Erin Duggan says the two met Saturday afternoon at the governor's Manhattan office. She refused to provide any details about the meeting. The governor has been meeting with a series of candidates for the seat that will be vacated by Hillary Clinton if she becomes Secretary of State in the Obama administration. Paterson has said he won't announce Clinton's replacement until she is confirmed. Others said to be interested in the appointment include state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi of Long Island, and Representatives Carolyn Maloney, Steve Israel, and Jerrold Nadler, among others.
