NEW YORK, NY December 30, 2008 —Broadway will dim its lights at exactly 7 p.m tonight in memory of Harold Pinter, the playwright, actor and director. Pinter died late last week. Harold Pinter won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2005 and wrote 30 plays in his career, including "The Homecoming" which won the Tony Award® for Best Play in 1967. He's known as one of the most influential and imitated writers in contemporary drama. The expression "Pinter-esque" has come to mean dialogue that is halting and menacing. Mr. Pinter lived in London. He died last week of cancer at the age of 78.
