WNYC Newsroom

NEW YORK, NY November 18, 2008 —State prosecutors have arrested a veteran Long Island Rail Road employee on corruption charges linked to the recent disability pension scandal.

Fred Kreuder is accused of taking money to help railroad employees file disability forms after they retire.

Four separate investigations are under way after the Times reported that more than 90 percent of the railroad's retirees applied for disability payments - and nearly 98 percent were approved.
