“Woyzeck” (Richard Termine)
Woyzeck Comes to BAM
by WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY October 15, 2008 —A new production of the German classic Woyzeck opens tonight at BAM. Woyzeck is a tragedy about a soldier who's driven to commit murder. The play was discovered in pieces in 1837, after its author, George Buckner, died at the age of 23 before finishing it. The Icelandic director Gísli Örn Gardarsson adapted this production, creating a spectacle that includes acrobatics and underwater swimming. Music for the production was composed by singer songwriter Nick Cave. Woyzeckruns at BAM through this weekend.
