Bronx Plant Must Reduce Odors
by WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY October 10, 2008 —A fertilizer company in the Bronx is finding out what happens when a community group called Mothers on the Move gets moving. State environmental conservation officials have ordered the New York Organic Fertilizer Company to take measures to reduce odors at its Hunts Point plant. The order comes after residents complained that the stench from the facility was ruining their lives. The plant processes half of New York's sewage sludge into fertilizer pellets.
