Patersons Prepares for 2010 Reelection
by WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY October 10, 2008 —Governor Paterson has taken more steps this week toward an official campaign for a full term as governor.
REPORTER: He launched a web site called PatersonForNY.com with a link for campaign contributions. But he didn't make a formal announcement about seeking a full term.
While Paterson says he's focusing on steering New York through the fiscal crisis right now, Siena College Political Analyst Steve Greenberg says the governor is also laying the groundwork for his future with the right people.
GREENBERG: He is telling the political world, media, big contributors, potential opponents, other electeds, party leaders of both parties. He's sending the message to them, two years from now I'm a candidate for governor.
REPORTER: Greenberg says Paterson may also be quietly alerting and warding off those who'd run against him. After Paterson was inaugurated in March, he established a campaign committee, and it's raised more than 3-million dollars so far.
