NEW YORK, NY October 06, 2008 —Several Council members heading into this afternoon's Democratic caucus said they were still undecided about how to vote on repealing term limits without going back to voters that have twice cast ballots to keep them in place.

Even City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has yet to publicly declare if she supports the Mayor's push to have the Council repeal term limits. Her staff says the Speaker will not talk to reporters after tonight's caucus.

A permanent term limits repeal bill is expected to be introduced as soon as tomorrow's full council meeting, as well as alternative proposals to require a voter referendum.

Quinn has said that if the term limits were lifted she would herself run for a third term as a council member and then as speaker. If term limits stand two thirds of the Council would have to seek other employment next year.
