NEW YORK, NY October 05, 2008 —Now that the $700 billion national economic bailout package has been signed into law, the New Jersey Assembly is preparing to tackle economic conditions closer to home. Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts announced last week a plan to break with tradition and devote the entire session to the economy on Monday. Roberts said the gravity of the financial situation facing New Jersey's businesses and workers warrants lawmakers' total attention. Eleven Assembly committees are slated to meet, some jointly, as lawmakers try to develop a comprehensive plan to help New Jersey business owners and residents through the economic downturn. The economy will also be the topic of discussion in the Senate on Monday.
