Met Opera Kicks Off New Season

NEW YORK, NY September 23, 2008 —The Metropolitan Opera kicked off its 125th season in style last night. The opera diva Renee Fleming performed scenes from Verdi, Massenet and Strauss. She wore costumes designed by Christian Lacroix, and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel.
The Met broadcast the performance on screens in Times Square and Fordham University’s Lincoln Center Plaza. Six hundred movie theaters in North and South America also showed the concert, including the Brooklyn Academy of Music and theaters in Mexico City and Buenos Aires.
