Sanitation Crews Ready for Hanna
WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY September 06, 2008 —Sanitation workers and other crews around the region are on duty today in anticipation of wind and rain from Tropical Storm Hanna.
REPORTER: New York City Office of Emergency Management Chief Joseph Bruno says he ramped up staff to deal with any floods, fallen trees or other storm damage.
BRUNO: We will put the full weight of the city's resources out there to deal with it. It is something I believe that we'll be able to handle, but nonetheless we take it very seriously.
REPORTER: Forecasters say Hanna will be a fast-moving storm, and should pass to our east. A flood watch is in effect until Sunday morning.
