NEW YORK, NY August 12, 2008 —New Yorkers of Georgian and Russian descent have been on the phone and the Internet trying to make sense of the recent fighting in the breakaway Georgian province of South Ossetia. South Ossetia is recognized by the U.S. and international community as part of Georgia, though it has repeatedly called for independence. Now with Russia and Georgia going to battle there, immigrants from both countries are scared of an all-out war. WNYC's Marianne McCune reports.
