DJ Shadow Invades McCarren Pool
by Derek John
NEW YORK, NY July 17, 2008 —Thursday night in Williamsburg two of hip-hop’s most innovative turntablists DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist invade McCarren Pool. WNYC’s Derek John caught up with DJ Shadow about his lifelong obsession with records. The performance features eight turntables spinning only 45 rpm records. 45s spin faster than a typical 12 inch, so it’s a real workout for the DJs—and the vinyl too. But Shadow says the records can handle it.
