Pataki not attending RNC as McCain delegate
WNYC Newsroom
NEW YORK, NY June 30, 2008 —Former Gov. George Pataki will not act as a delegate for Sen. John McCain at the Republican Party's convention this summer.
A spokesperson for Pataki says the governor was bounced by New York Republican Party Chairman Joseph Mondello. Two years ago, Mondello was removed from the Republican National Committee and replaced by Pataki loyalist Alexander Treadwell. But state GOP Executive Director Matthew Walter says the two incidents are unrelated.
Pataki tried to keep McCain off the state ballot in the 2000 primary against George Bush.
