Clinton Makes Emotional Return to the Senate
by Andrea Bernstein
NEW YORK, NY June 24, 2008 —An emotional return for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate today.
WNYC's Andrea Bernstein has more.
Clinton was warmly received by her fellow Democrats at their weekly luncheon.
Majority Leader Harry Reid called it one of the most "emotional caucuses I've ever attended." Clinton pledged to work to elect a Democratic president and advance Democratic causes.
She said her experiences as a presidential candidate left her "with a greater depth of awareness" of what needs to be done in Washington. After the luncheon, when asked by reporters about the Vice Presidency said that was "Senator Obama's decision" and she wasn't "running for any other position."
Clinton will visit the House tomorrow, raise money for Barack Obama Thursday, and appear at a rally in Unity, N.H., on Friday.
For WNYC, I'm Andrea Bernstein.
