Cuomo Goes After Drugstore Chains

NEW YORK, NY June 12, 2008 —Attorney General Andrew Cuomo is initiating legal action against the CVS and Rite Aid drugstore chains.
Investigators, with the attorney general's office say they found numerous products on shelves long after their expiration date at stores across the state. These included expired medicines, as well as baby formula and eggs.
Arthur Levin is with the Center for Medical Consumers
LEVIN: If you had a severe allergy to a food or a severe allergy to an insect sting while relying on over the counter allergy medication that might not be affective. You might end up in an emergency room in anaphylactic shock.
REPORTER: The Attorney General is giving the companies a required 5-days to respond before proceeding with a lawsuit.
No response from either CVS or Rite Aid.
