Middle Schoolers Find Out Which Schools They'll Attend
by Kathleen Horan
NEW YORK, NY May 30, 2008 —The Department of Education is starting to send out notification letter's today to parents of middle school kids about what school their children will be attending.
Many of the notifications are being mailed out later than last year - when they were sent out anytime from April until June. The DOE says they've moved to a single timeline this year, so it's easier for parent to navigate.
If parents don't receive the letters by the end of next week - they're instructed to contact their child's guidance counselor.
Acceptance forms are due in elementary schools by June 12.
Some parents have complained that that doesn't leave enough time to appeal the placements if they need to.
