Guitarist Brandon Ross has worked in a variety of genres since moving to New York City in 1983. When he's not fronting his electric trio Harriet Tubman, Ross collaborates with some of the world's most innovative artists; some of his performance partners include the hip-hop group Arrested Development, painter Julian Schnabel, folk-pop singer Jewel, classical violinist Leila Josefowicz, conceptual musician Arto Lindsay and trumpeter Ron Miles, among many others. In 1993, Ross became the musical director for jazz vocalist Cassandra Wilson.

Clara Rockmore (1911-1998) was the greatest performer of the theremin in history. A child prodigy who started on the violin (but abandoned it due to health problems), Rockmore developed an entire technique and fingering system for the theremin, working with the instrument's inventor Léon Theremin.
