The 17th annual New Sounds Live concert series continues and as 2004 approaches,
we look ahead to the 18th annual season. Be there for the premieres of new WNYC-commissioned
works by Aaron Jay Kernis, and John Luther Adams, the winter film series at
the World Financial Center featuring silent films set to innovative and energetic
scores by Joby Talbot, Merkin Hall events with the Tin Hat Trio, Ethel, and
Laurie Anderson, and the day-long New York Guitar Festival Marathon. The concerts,
hosted by John Schaefer, will be taped for future broadcast on WNYC.

Hear the world premiere of Aaron Jay Kernis' Concerto for Toy Piano and Chamber
Orchestra, a WNYC commission. Margaret Leng Tan and the new music band Alarm
Will Sound perform the clangorous piece at the World Financial Centers
Winter Garden on December 9, at 7PM..

14, 15 & 16, 2004
Rare silent films by Alfred Hitchcock, George Méliès, Bill Morrison
and Keïsuke Sasaki featuring new live scores will screen for three winter
evenings in the World Financial Center Winter Garden. The old silent films with
new music have been curated and will be hosted by John Schaefer as part of the
New York Guitar Festival. Screenings include a set of films with original live
scores provided by The Bill Frisell Trio on two nights, and Alfred Hitchcock's
first suspense thriller, The Lodger (1926) accompanied by composer Joby
Talbot's score on the third night.

The Second New Sounds Live/New York Guitar Festival Marathon. All-day event
with Paul Odette, Simon Shaheen, David Starobin, Dennis Koster, David Torn,

Dominic Frasca, and Vinicius Cantuaria.
