Ned Rorem Turns 80

Ned Rorem, one of America's leading composers, will mark his 80th birthday this Thursday, October 23. WNYC will join in the celebration.

  • On Friday at 3pm you can hear Sara Fishko's excellent interview with Ned Rorem that originally aired in May of 2002.

  • During Evening Music, Monday through Thursday, David Garland will feature some songs by Ned Rorem

  • On Thursday afternoon at 2PM, Soundcheck will air highlights from an interview John Schaefer did with Ned Rorem at the beginning of his birthday year.

  • On the Overnight Music on Thursday night, the entire program, midnight to 5 AM, will be devoted to works by Ned Rorem
