Relive the exciting opening program of this year's Mostly Mozart Festival, hosted by Terrance McKnight and Fred Child. MMF Artistic Director Louis Langrée conducts Mozart's Symphony No. 40, paired with a rare chamber version of Mahler's "Das Lied von der Erde" (The Song of the Earth), arranged in part by Arnold Schoenberg for strings, winds, piano, percussion and harmonium.
Orpheus Chamber Orchestra: Mendelssohn, Marshall, Beethoven

John Schaefer hosts this broadcast, which features the world premiere of Ingram Marshall's "Orphic Memories," a new concerto grosso co-commissioned by WNYC. Also on the program: Gil Shaham in Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major, and Mendelssohn's Sinfonia No. 10 for String Orchestra.
Music from the 92nd Street Y: Tokyo String Quartet
Sara Fishko
Sara Fishko digs into the audio archives of the 92nd Street Y to bring us the greatest live performances from the stage of the Y's Kaufmann Concert Hall. In this program, the Y's string quartet-in-residence performs music by Haydn, plus a rarely-heard septet by German composer Hanns Eisler, drawn from his own music for a Charlie Chaplin film.
Orpheus Chamber Orchestra: Bach, Theofanidis, Schumann
Orpheus Chamber Orchestra
This concert features the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in another world premiere: Christopher Theofanidis' "Muse," written as a modern companion piece for Bach's "Brandenburg" Concerto No. 3. We also hear the Brandenburg itself, and pianist Christian Zacharias in Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto.
Orpheus Chamber Orchestra: Copland, Chausson, León, Bizet
Schaefer and McKnight
John Schaefer and Terrance McKnight co-host this concert from Avery Fisher Hall, featuring "Ácana," an exciting new work by Tania León. Also heard are Aaron Copland's "Latin American Sketches," Ernest Chausson's "Poème de l'Amour et de la Mer" (Poem of Love and the Sea) with Dame Felicity Lott, and George Bizet's Symphony in C Major.
