What Are You Made Of? The Reveal Event

Thursday, July 14, 2016

6:30 PM

Mary Harris, host of WNYC Studio’s Only Human, will be leading a discussion about the American Museum of Natural History’s exciting study on the microbiome, the microscopic organisms that live on and in our bodies.

We tend to think of bacteria and viruses as the bad guys, but, as visitors to the AMNH’s exhibition "The Secret World Inside You" learn, most of our microbes are keeping us healthy. Over the past two months, more than a thousand visitors to the museum’s Sackler Education Lab have been invited to get swabbed and donate their microbes for research. Scientists will reveal the preliminary findings from this study at the event.

And before the discussion, stroll through The Secret World Inside You exhibit during exclusive after-hour access for event attendees starting at 5:30pm.

Only Human, a podcast about health, medicine and our bodies, has been partnering with the museum to talk about the latest discoveries about the microbiome.
