Description: WNYC is a media sponsor of the 15th Anniversary New York African Film Festival, produced by African Film Festival, Inc., in collaboration with the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Under the banner theme “Cinema and History: Africa and the Future,” over 40 films from 22 countries will explore the lineage of the African moving image and its relationship to the future of African and diaspora cinema. Directors include Charles Burnett, Ngozi Onwurah, Isaac Julien, Ousmane Sembène, and many more.
Honorary guests Charles Burnett and Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka will be present for special receptions.
The Festival launches at the Walter Reade Theater, Lincoln Center (April 9th – 15th) and continues at French Institute Alliance Française (May 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th) and BAM cinématek (May 23rd – 26th).
