During any New York City snowstorm, the subway automatically becomes a warm haven away from the chaos outside. Before taking this photograph, I was sitting waiting for my train to depart from the first/last stop. For a few tranquil minutes, I sat there watching the snow falling, forgetting where I was, and imagined to be in a snow filled forest.

This photo was taken at the last stop in Queens, Ditmars Blvd during one of the days following the snowstorm in 2010. As I walked to the first car, past the melting snow piles, I finally felt spring time for the first time in months. The sudden weather transformations and intertwining of seasons are things I appreciate in New York City.

This photo was taken at the last stop on the N line, Ditmars Blvd, on a cold snowy morning as the sun was rising. I caught a small glimpse of the skyline before boarding the train and quickly took a snap as the small fragment of my destination peeked through the low buildings in Queens. Whenever I see the New York City skyline, no matter which borough I am in, I get an overwhelming sense of the amount of potential there is here for all of us.

This was taken on the G line toward Manhattan in 2009. I was impressed by the sense of personal style and pride. A sense of courage and strength radiated through.

This photo was taken in 2009 on the Mrytle Willowby station on the G line. I just came back from shooting in Bedford-Stuyveant and this photo seemed to capture the feeling of I had.

Taken while construction had shut down on the F line at 15th street? Prospect Park in Spring 2011. The lighting was very dramatic, and the workers tools and belongings made me think of offerings left at a religious shine deep in a cave.

People love to "tune-out" on the subway, though I believe New Yorkers still manage to have particular antennas at attention. I think these two were disengaged, but still aware I was photographing them.

These cinematic moments can unfold in front of you in New York when you least except them, springing up one's most basic routine. As a photographer, sometimes you feel you are the only one to notice. I'm intrigued by where "nature" meets the stark coolness of the city. I wonder if these people even knew about the grand, spectacular sky above them on this Sunday at the Court Street 7 Platform.

N train entering the tunnel. I always was wondering about those graffiti people.

As a Graphic Designer I am drawn to shapes and color and texture of the city and the many years of wear and tear and patchwork, like trying to save an old quilt. This too reminds me of New York City.

I was inspired to take the picture because i have been waiting for this entrance for over a year to reopen. And now i need pair of sun glasses to take the trip down the brand new bright stairs.
This says New York to me because when something is brand new in this city is REALLY stands out.

Taken July 2009, Coney Island.
I was inspired by the juxtaposition of the old and the new. The old brick smoke stack in contrast to the shiny new subway cars. That says New York City to me the old mixed with the new.
