CLAYWORKS-- This is a traditional pottery craft store that you don't see very much any more. Store has been in this location for several decades. Every item is hand thrown, glazed and fired on the premises by the potter, no two items are the same. Stoneware is practical, hard-wearing and beautiful. Potter also offers classes. As a newly arrived grad student in NYC in 1991 I used to walk past Clayworks every day and promise myself that as soon as I could afford it, I would take the classes. Seven years later when I finally got a decently paid job, the first place I went was Clayworks.
