Without Kundiman, many Asian American poets would not be writing – and therefore not advancing our community’s voices & experiences or helping to transform our American landscape. In 2011, Kundiman has:
• Shared with 200 people Together We Are New York, an innovative multimedia community-based project to document & amplify Asian American experiences related to 9/11;
• Launched Janine Oshiro’s Pier, the first winner of the Kundiman Poetry Prize;
• Had two former fellows win the Chapbook Prizes from the Poetry Society of America; and,
• Continued our hallmark Asian American poets retreat with 23 fellows; and.
