All I could think about was a not very sucessful competeting game I played in the 1950's. This was "Boom or Bust". The additional element was a business cycle that effected the value of your properties. There were three levels (Boom, Normal and Bust). Your strategy could be destroyed when the business cycle randomly changed.

I like the properties. We had a friend from Williamsport, PA. A Williamsport millionaire. His job as the second son was actually buying properties on Boardwalk.
