I made a menorah out of used Porsche valves. At a high end car repair place, which I visited with my then 7 year old niece, they offered us some used valves. I took one; she didn't want any. I stuck on my mantle, and it gradually dawned on me that it was a thing of beauty. Once I felt that way, I kicked myself for having turned down the other seven, and started acquiring more, which took some effort (my first-ever ebay purchase was some Porsche valves). (Mercedes valves are also beautiful, most of the rest that I've seen range from pedestrian to junky.) The question arose, what to do with them, and one day, the answer just occurred to me. I did some more searching for something that would make a good stand for them. The ring comes from a Ford transmission.
