Lincoln Center, August 7, 2013.

A perfect summer evening. My husband and I had just tried to attend an outdoor concert of salsa legend Ruben Blades in Damrosch Park off of Lincoln Center. But the lively famous music and warm weather had brought out the throngs who filled the seating to capacity; we were too late. Hand-in-hand we started our journey home. The atmosphere around Lincoln Center was vibrant, kinetic, with hundreds of concert-goers, tourists and passers-by moving about in all directions and speeds, talking at all different levels and accents. Then I spotted this Asian couple - silent, tranquil, connected in their own bubble. A live human sculpture, a study in the beauty of stillness. A perfect contrast and compliment to the surrounding tumult.

I captured the moment on my cell phone, and we moved on.
