I visited the National September 11 Memorial for the first time with a friend visiting from Seattle, Thanksgiving weekend. I had just returned from London and thought that the weather that day was more London than New York. I snapped this photo, and looking at it later thought it looked painted or photoshopped, with the popcorn clouds reflected on everything. I remembered a conversation when the driver coming in from the airport expressed disappointment in the building's plainness, and my saying that its simplicity was the attraction, and the promise that it would reflect the world around it... and here was my proof.
